Hip Hop Mixtape #2

For week 2 of my mixtape series, I'm continuing with the hip-hop theme, and again it's a mixture of old and new.

The old: two of the greatest and most innovative rap groups ever (Wu-Tang Clan and Jurassic 5), the best thing to come out of the Southern Rap movement (Outkast), a sumptuous slice of neo-soul (Lauryn Hill) and the highlight track from the most soulful hip-hop album ever recorded (Pete Rock & CL Smooth).

The new: the best track from the best album of 2007 (M.I.A.), Kanye West produced highlight from Chicago's greatest MC's latest LP (Common), white-hot New York hip-hop with the two greatest rappers of this generation trading verses (Jay-Z feat. NAS), title track from the latest record by hip-hop's very own band (The Roots), exceptional hip-hop-soul (Gnarls Barkley), a track from last year's most underrated album (Pharoah Monch) and finally, the song featuring my favourite beat at the moment (Blu).

Enjoy!
